Maker Faire KC
Promotional Campaign
My goal for Maker Faire KC 2020 was to create a promotional campaign that celebrates the changing landscape of maker culture and looks to the future by studying the past. I took a collage-centric approach because of the connotative themes of acceptance inherent in the medium, and made heavy use of the future-forward imagery of science fiction pulp magazines from the 1940s-60s to subversively champion the increasing use of technology in maker culture (like 3D printers).
I was honored to receive the Gold Addy Award for this project in the student category for Magazine Advertising Campaign at the 2020 Kansas City American Advertising Awards, and once again for winning Silver in the same category at the district level.
Express Esports
Branding / Motion Graphics
For this all-encompassing branding project, I created a Kansas City-proud Esports team for the Overwatch League. With sports culture currently at an all time high, the market is primed to expand into the next vanguard of competitive sports. With abstracted shapes and simple lines as a visual language, I managed to create a presence that is progressive, modern, and as speedy as the name implies.
I was honored to receive another Gold Addy Award for the project.
Carbon Cold Brew
Packaging / Ad Campaign
With Carbon Cold Brew / Coffee Co. I wanted to create a distinctive brand that appealed to coffee purists and rose above the noise of the cold brew craze. By using pseudo-scientific connotations, a stark color palette and a simple, down-to-earth voice for messaging, I reflected the essence of what makes drinking coffee most enjoyable – the coffee itself.
Nerman Museum
Wayfinding / Leave Behind / Environmenal
The Queer Abstraction exhibit visited the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at JCCC in spring of 2020. It celebrated the art and culture of several LGBTQ artists through different mediums, providing a uniquely liberating experience. However, the gallery in which it was placed was rather stark by contrast, resulting in some cognitive dissonance. By adding choose-your-own-adventure style wayfinding, immersive environmental elements and an all-inclusive leave behind, I heightened the vivacity of the art while maintaining the austerity of the space.
E. Edwards Workwear
Rebranding / Ad Campaign
E. Edwards Workwear is an established workwear retailer in the Kansas City Metro area. They have a relatively conservative business model, relying mostly on their strong working relationships with local factories and crews for business. By updating their branding and focusing on broader campaigns, we were able to substantially increase their brand awareness outside of those working relationships while also maintaining their tough, workaday identity for existing customers.
Woofr App
Mobile App Development
The idea spawned from my own dog’s need for increased socialization with other dogs and seeing how positive the effects of doing so were. Designed much like Tinder or other dating apps, Woofr focuses on creating suitable matches with other pups, and encourages a bond of similar interests and perspectives with their owners. Additionally, the brand colors are in a visual spectrum that dogs can see, giving a deeper implied connotation that the app is for dogs first, and their owners second.

Express Logo Build Video
Used as part of the comprehensive branding effort for the Express Esports team, I designed the Logo Build Animation to be a sort of “Hype” video – to be played before matches, while introducing players, etc.
Express Bumper Video
This video was also created as part of the comprehensive branding effort for Express Esports. This time, I wanted something that could be played as a sort of “bump-in/out” video, to be played before a commercial break, or perhaps after a replay video.
Myriad Web Hero
As part of a Electronic Productions class project, we were asked to design deliverables for a not-for-profit of our choosing, including several elements of their website. I chose to make the web hero interactive in order to reflect the communal nature of music and encourage the user to become involved.
Clean Charge Network Animation
This video was designed for the “It’s Just a Car” ad campaign for the Clean Charge Network, an initiative put on by Evergy in order to raise awareness about Electric Vehicles, and attempt to destigmatize their widespread adoption.
